Yes, I notice this in myself, as well as my students - it's so easy to find lots and lots of reasons about why you don't have time to engage in some tai chi. But truthfully, it's when your life is so busy and stressful that you NEED IT MOST and it will HELP YOU MOST! And almost everyone I've ever asked, agrees, that AFTER they mindfully do some tai chi, they FEEL BETTER, and they function better. Ugh - always the battle with our "monkey minds!" Whether for health or martial arts practice, tai chi is so good for the body and mind. May it continue to spread into our busy lives!

ahh.. now I understand :) My old taiji teacher did a similar thing. He would publicly teach the 24/48 standardized sets, but then in his advanced classes, he would mix in some liuhebafa into the routines.

I've always considered the repetitions to be clues as to what the original founders thought were important key elements. Things like brush knee, single whip, could hands, etc etc. In addition, the repitition would be similar to doing drills of key elements. Just my 2 cents ;)
