Starting at age of 11, Master Zhang was sent to Shanghai every summer to learn Yang style Tai Chi from his teacher, grandmaster Xie Bing Can. Grandmaster Xie studied Yang style directly under the Great Fu Zhongwen from 1972 to 1980, and he studied Wu style under Ma Yueliang from 1987 to 1991.

Master Zhang lived with grandmaster Xie Bing Can and his family and accompanied him on public and private lessons. Every morning, they wake up at 5am. He would then accompany Grandmaster Xie whom taught his public lessons mainly at Chang Feng Park and East China Normal University. Normally they would finish the public lesson around 9am and Master Zhang would receive his private lessons from grandmaster Xie till noon. Since grandmaster Xie Bing Can also is a student of Great Grandmaster Ma Yue Liang. Master Huan also learned some Wu style tips from grandmaster Xie Bing Can. Master Huan also got many Tai Chi tips from Grandmaster Cai Hong Xiang while in Shanghai.

Master Zhang then moved to USA on 1991. He continued to learn Yang, Wu and Chen Style Tai Chi from his well known father, Grandmaster Zhang Lu Ping whom was a Chen Style Tai Chi champion at Zhe Jiang Providence. Grandmaster Zhang Lu Ping learned his Wu style Tai Chi from Great Grandmaster Sun Run Zhi( Sun is a direct student of Wu Jian Chuan- Son of Wu Quan You /Wu Style Creator) Grandmaster Zhang Lu Ping appeared on cover of Tai Chi magazine alone twice and centerfold of Inside Kung Fu magazine. Grandmaster Zhang Lu Ping has been invited to do master’s demonstration at Taste of China and Tai Chi Farm. Grandmaster Lu Ping has interviewed by TV show “Full Circle” in Springfield TV channel in Massachusetts. Grandmaster Zhang Lu Ping has learned his Chen Style ( New Frame) Tai Chi from Great Grandmaster Dong Xiang Gen. He also learned from Chen Zhao Qui’s last indoor student Du Wen Cai. Du taught the secret lineage forms, Chen style 3rd and 4th set to grandmaster Zhang Lu Ping which Master Huan also inherited.
